Telegram header
The telegram header can differ according to the protocol and telegram type. It consists of up to 10 bytes
and contains the following information:
Data
The number of data words listed in the telegram header is transferred from the data element. The example
in Table 6–26 (page 264) shows 50 data words (100 bytes) in data element 10 starting with data word
64.
The size of the data elements is 512 bytes=256 data words. However, each transferred telegram may
contain a maximum of 128 bytes (64 data words). If more than 128 bytes have to be transferred in a data
element, then the contents will be divided to several telegrams.

Example 240 data words should be transferred to data element 32.
3964R protocol
The following are transferred:
• Send telegram with DE 32 start address, DW 0, and a length of 64 data words
• Send telegram with DE 32 start address, DW 64, and a length of 64 data words
• Send telegram with DE 32 start address, DW 128, and a length of 64 data words
• Send telegram with DE 32 start address, DW 192, and a length of 48 data words
After transmission has been completed, the data of the data element are in the correct order in the
assigned memory area.
RK512 protocol
The following are transferred:
• Send telegram with DE 32 start address, DW 0, and a length of 240 data words (length listed in
telegram header). The telegram contains 128 bytes=64 data words of data.
• Sequence telegram with 128 bytes=64 data words of data
• Sequence telegram with 128 bytes=64 data words of data
• Sequence telegram with 96 bytes=48 data words of data
• After transmission has been completed, the data of data element are arranged in the correct order.
