Switch Cluster
The Switch Cluster is a metal plate containing switches and cams mounted on the pinsetter’s detector so
that its nylon gear engages with the detector’s 1:1 gear. The nylon gear turns the cams which are timed
to close the switches at proper times during the pinsetter cycle. Refer to the gure titled Brunswick A-2
Pinsetter Switch Cluster.

NPS Switch
Although the NPS switch closes twice per pinsetter cycle, only the rst closure is needed and
used in the Sync scoring system. The rst switch closure informs the scoring system that the
pinsetter has cycled to a point where the new pin solenoid should not be energized. The cam
that actuates the switch is positioned so that it closes the switch at approximately 66° into the
pinsetter cycle or at a point where the deck is at the top of the pins.

The 0° switch closes when the pinsetter completes its pinsetter cycle. The switch closure is
used during foul and third ball, tenth frame cycles to put the pinsetter on 2nd ball.
