10 Sync Control System
SYNC COMPUTERS
The Sync Scoring System use Dell computers for the server and client computers. The specic Dell
model and the Windows operating system installed on the computer depends on when the computer was
installed and whether it is used as the server or client computer. Currently the server computer has the
Windows 2012 server operating system installed while the clients operate on the Windows 7 operating
system. Additional information for your specic Dell computer can be found at their website www.

WARNING! Each computer is designed for universal input voltage which
means it can operate with an input of 115 VAC or 230 VAC.
Although operating voltage is normally set when the computer is installed, it may be necessary to
congure it when replacing the computer. To select the voltage, simply slide the selector switch located
on the back of the computer near the power input receptacle, so the desired voltage can be read on the
selector. Refer to the gure titled Rear Panel Connectors and Voltage Switch shown later in this section.
The location of the computer(s) depends on the bowling center’s needs. (All installations will have at
least one computer located at the control desk.) For most installations, the server computer is located in
an ofce while client computers are used at the point of sale areas.
Connections
Despite the different models used for the server and client computers, they all contain standard
connections for power, keyboard, mice, display monitor, printer, external devices, and network
communication. The front of the computer contains typical controls and indicators found on most
computers. Refer to gures titled Front Panel Connectors and Controls and Rear Panel Connectors.
