CDM-570A/570AL Satellite Modem with Optional Packet Processor
Revision 5
Ethernet-based Remote Product Management 7–6 MN-CDM570A
7.2.5 Private MIB
The CDM-570A SNMP implements common modem MIBs that contain all the modem specific
parameters common to the CDM-570A/570AL. In addition, the L-Band SNMP also implements a
BUC and LNB MIB for RF parameters.
Whenever modifying the Modulator or Demodulator parameters by SNMP, it is
important that the variables must be executed in the following order:
1. FEC
2. Modulation or Demodulation
3. Code Rate
4. Data Rate
For detailed OID information, refer to the actual MIB file.
7.3 Telnet Interface
Telnet connection is allowed in both Serial remote mode and Ethernet remote mode. The Telnet
interface requires login at the Administrator and Read/Write User Access Levels. Once logged
into the Telnet interface as the Administrator, the modem provides a Telnet interface for two
primary functions:
M&C of equipment (e.g., modem, ODU (transceiver, BUC, LNB)) via Remote Control
protocol commands and queries.
Chapter 8. SERIAL-BASED REMOTE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
When the optional Packet Processor is INSTALLED, M&C using the Packet Processor

CLI OPERATION
7.3.1 Telnet Operation via HyperTerminal
There is a disadvantage when using Windows Command-line as a Telnet client. Since
Command-line cannot translate a ‘\r’ (i.e., carriage return or “CR”) to a ‘\r\n’ (i.e., CR+line feed
“LF”) for the messages coming from Telnet Server, any multi-line Target-to-Controller response
(e.g., the response to the FRW? query) will be displayed as one line, with the latter lines
overwriting the previous lines.
In order to view the full response messages, Comtech EF Data recommends use of the
HyperTerminal terminal emulation program, configured as a Telnet client.
