Input Selection & Level Control Section Troubleshooting
4. Turn the instrument self-alignment routine off by pressing System,
Alignments, Auto Align, Off.
5. Tune the instrument to a span of 0 Hz by pressing SPAN, Zero Span.
6. Connect a signal generator to the A10 Attenuator B RF Input. Refer to
Figure 4-4 or Figure 4-5.
7. Tune the signal generator to 1 GHz with an amplitude of −20 dBm.
8. Connect a spectrum analyzer to the A10 Attenuator B RF Output. Refer to
Figure 4-4 or Figure 4-5.
9. Tune the spectrum analyzer to 1 GHz with a span of 1 MHz.
10.Change the A10 Attenuator B setting to 0 dB by pressing AMPTD,
Attenuation, Mech Atten, 0 dB.
11.Verify that the signal level on the spectrum analyzer is at −20 dBm
(±0.25 dB), as shown in Figure 4-13, allowing for any additional test cable
loss.
If the signal level is incorrect the most likely cause of the problem is the
A10 Attenuator B assembly itself. However, before replacing an A10
Attenuator B assembly for any failure, refer to Chapter 8, “Front End
Control.” for information on how to verify the control signals to it.
