RF Preselector Section
RF Preselector Section Troubleshooting
11.Tune the signal generator to the Center Frequency listed in Table 5-8 for
Band 0.
12.Place one of the active traces on the spectrum analyzer into its Max Hold
function.
13.Slowly vary the frequency of the signal generator above and below the
Center Frequency listed in Table 5-8 to draw out the shape of the selected
filter on the spectrum analyzer display, as shown in Figure 5-22.
14.Verify that the passband gain or loss is equal to the Typical Passband
Gain/Loss shown in Table 5-8 for Band 0, and that the filter shape is
similar to that shown in Figure 5-22.
If either the passband gain/loss or filter shape is incorrect the most likely
cause of the problem is the A22 Radiated Filter assembly itself. However,
before replacing the A22 Radiated Filter assembly be sure to perform the
Characterize Preselector routine for the band exhibiting an alignment
problem. The Characterize Preselector routine can be found in the
instrument Service Menu under System, Service, RF Preselector,
Characterize RF Preselector, All Bands. See Chapter 16, “Service and
Diagnostics Menus” for details.
15.Repeat step 8 through step 14 for the remained of the A22 Radiated Filter
assembly filter bands shown in Table 5-8, using the Center Frequency,
Span, and Typical Passband Gain/Loss shown in Table 5-8 for each band.
