Front End Control
A15 Front End Control Assembly Troubleshooting
The following procedure will verify the 322.5 MHz IF output switching:
1. Remove the instrument dress cover and internal cover. Refer to Chapter
18, “Assembly Replacement Procedures.” for instructions on removing
these covers.
2. Turn the instrument on and allow it to complete its boot up process.
3. Switch the instrument into the Spectrum Analyzer mode by pressing
Mode, Spectrum Analyzer.
4. Turn the instrument auto alignment routine off by pressing System,
Alignments, Auto Align, Off.
5. Turn the 50 MHz Calibrator signal on by pressing Input/Output, RF
Calibrator, 50 MHz.
6. Tune the instrument to a frequency of 50 MHz with a span of 0 Hz by
pressing FREQ Channel, Center Freq, 50 MHz and SPAN X Scale, Zero
Span.
7. Set the input attenuation to 10 dB by pressing AMPTD Y Scale,
Attenuation, 10 dB.
8. Disconnect W16 from A15 J900 as shown in Figure 8-6.
9. Connect a spectrum analyzer to A15 J900.
10.Verify that the amplitude of the 322.5 MHz signal at A15 J900 is equal to
that shown in Figure 8-14, +/- 3 dB.
