8.8 Positioning
Positioning means that a workpiece/tool or material is moved from a starting position to a
defined destination :
To carry out positioning, a travel profile has to be stored in the inverter for at least the following
profile parameter:
A profile describes a motion task that can be converted to a rotary motion of the motor shaft by
the Motion Control Kernel in the "Positioning" operating mode.
A positioning process can be composed of a large number of profiles that are executed in a fixed
manner.
15 different profiles can be parameterised for the 8400 HighLine inverter.

Position
Target position or distance to be traversed.
Velocity
Maximum velocity during the positioning process.
Acceleration
Maximum acceleration during the positioning process.
Deceleration
Maximum deceleration during the positioning process.

