9.1 Basic process controller sengs
By means of the process con
troller, a process variable can be regulated, for instance the pres-
sure of a pump. The process controller is also referred to as "PID controller" (PID controller =
proporonal, integral and dierenal controller).
Details
The process controller is part of a closed control loop. The variable to be inuenced (control-
led variable) is measured connuously by means of a sensor and supplied to the inverter as an
analog signal (actual value) which, in the inverter, is then compared to the reference value
(setpoint). The system deviaon resulng therefrom is supplied to the process controller
which, on this basis, decelerates or accelerates the motor speed according to the desired
dynamic performance of the control loop, so that, for instance, a pump always generates the
desired pressure.
The basic seng of the process controller is carried out via the following parameters.
Parameter Name / value range / [default seng] Info
0x4020:001
(PAR 600/001)
Process contr
oller: Operang mode
(Process controller: Operang mode)
Selecon of the process controller operang mode.
0 Inhibited Process controller deacvated.
1 Normal operaon If the controlled variable (actual value) fed back is reduced, the motor
speed is increased.
Example: pressure-controlled booster pumps (increase in the motor
speed produces an increase in pressure.)
2 Reversing duty If the controlled variable (actual value) fed back is reduced, the motor
speed is also reduced.
Example: temperature-controlled cooling water pump (increase in motor
speed produces decrease in temperature.)
3 Normal operaon in both rotang direcons As selecon 1, but also inverted rotang direcon possible if both rotat-
ing direcons are enabled with the seng 0x283A (PAR 304) = 1.
4 Reversing duty in both rotang direcons As selecon 2, but also inverted rotang direcon possible if both rotat-
ing direcons are enabled with the seng 0x283A (PAR 304) = 1.
0x4020:002
(PAR 600/002)
Process controller: Feedback source
(Process controller: PID feedback)
Selecon of the source via which the feedback of the controlled variable
(actual value) for the process controller is eected.
1 Analog input 1
2 Analog input 2
0x4020:003
(PAR 600/003)
Process controller: Closed-loop controlled speed
range
(Process controller: PID speed range)
0 ... [100] ... 100 %
Seng of the maximum output frequency up to which the process con-
troller carries out regulaon.
100 % ≡ upper frequency limit value 0x2916 (PAR 211)
.
0x4020:004
(PAR 600/004)
Process contr
oller: Speed feedforward control source
(Process controller: PID line speed)
Oponal selecon of a speed feedforward control source for the process
controller.
Is advisable, for instance, for dancer posion controls if the motor
speed must not fall below line speed (process controller output value
= line speed + controlled motor speed).
Standard applicaons usually do not require a speed feedforward
control; therefore it is deacvated in the default seng.

Process contr
oller speed operaon: Acceleraon me
(PID acc./dec.: PID acceleraon me)
0.0 ... [1.0] ... 3600.0 s
Acceleraon me for (temporary) speed-controlled drive control in proc-
ess controller mode.
This acceleraon me is eecve if process controller mode is acve
and a change-over to speed-controlled operaon has been eected
by the trigger set in 0x2631:045 (PAR 400/045).
The acceleraon me takes eect at the output of the process con-
troller.
