1. Configuration
Note! Signal name in the parenthesis ( ) indicates the nibble mode.
Functions in the compatible mode is described only.
The nibble mode in compliance with IEEE std12_4-1994 that is
specied by IEEE is supported. If any computer or cable that do not
comply with this specification is sued, unexpected operations may
occur.

Use the cable in compliance with IEEE std. 1284-1994 of less than 1.8 m or equivalent
(Use the shielded cable.)

Low level: +0.0 V to +0.8 V

Bi-direction 8-bit parallel data High level is “1” and low level
is “0”.

Signal indicating completion of data reception

PRINTER
Signal indicating if a printer is ready to receive
data. Data reception is impossible while it is
high-level.
12 PError(AckDataReq) FROM
PRINTER
High-level indicates paper error.
13 Select(Xflag) FROM
PRINTER
When the parallel interface is available, it is
always at high-level.
14 nAutoFd(HostBusy) TO PRINTER Used by the bidirectional communication

16 GND - Signal ground

PRINTER
Unable to supply power to outside device.

31 nInit(nInit) TO PRINTER Printer is initialized at low-level.

When a printer is in the alarm state, it is set to
low-level.

PRINTER
Pulled up to + 5 V with 3.3 k
resistor inside a
printer.
36 nSelectIn
(IEEE1284 active)
TO PRINTER Used by the bidirectional communication It must
be at the low-level during the compatible mode.
