4.4 Communication Protocols
The system supports the two main protocols for setting up a PISN:
The ISDN protocol DSS1 is used mainly in virtual networks.
The QSIG / PSS1 protocol is based on an international standard that is sup-
ported by all leading PBX providers. QSIG / PSS1 is used to set up private net-
works with very high performance and capacity.
4.4.1 Protocol and Topology Type
The system supports any combination of protocol and topology type. Normally,
however, the QSIG / PSS1 protocol is used for leased-line networking and the
DSS1 protocol for virtual networking.
