Mixed Mode supports a two-channel LAN/broadcast solution where P1-C1
provides dedicated transport for port 1 traffic. A second transparent,
broadcast mode connection is provided with ports 2, 3 and 4 and channel C2
interconnected. The two channels can be assigned on the same link or used
to support separate links. Mixed Mode is particularly applicable to east and
west links in an Ethernet ring/mesh network where path protection is
provided by an external RSTP switch.
