4.6 Before/After Extended Periods of Disuse

9 Wash the eluent tubes.
a Add a small volume of distilled water to an empty aluminium pack and rinse the inside.
• Use the three aluminium packs (supplied) for maintenance when the instrument is not to be used for extended
periods of time.
• Discard the distilled water after rinsing the pack.
b Add 600 mL of distilled water to the aluminium pack with a beaker.
c Insert one of the nozzles on the gauze into the aluminium pack
and tighten the cap securely.
• Gently shake the aluminum pack to make sure the purified water
contacts the entire nozzle all the way to the base.
d Attach other nozzles to other aluminium packs in the same
procedure.
• See steps 9-a to 9-c.
e Press the standby switch to turn on the power.
• Five minutes after powering up the instrument, the message
“W-053 No Eluent A Replace pack.” will appear.
f Touch .
g On the standby screen, select , <2.Reagent replace menu> and <1. Eluent A> in that order.
• Repeat step 9-g for eluents B and CV.
h Touch .
• The tubes will be filled with distilled water.
• Then, priming will start automatically. Wait for the standby screen to appear.
NOTE:
Use a beaker that can be held with one hand. If the beaker cannot hold 600 mL, add the distilled water in
several pourings.
Hold the beaker in one hand and the pack by the hard plastic neck in the other hand while adding the
distilled water. If you fail to do so, the pack may collapse under its own weight.
