6.4 Possible failures in rear power take-off shaft and instructions for trouble-
shooting
The list of possible failures in the rear power take-off shaft and instructions for trou-
bleshooting are given in Table 6.4.1.

Failure, external manifestation,
cause
Troubleshooting
Rear PTO shaft end fails to rotate when activated
As you engage the RPTO the an-
nunciator of RPTO engaged condi-
tion is not on, the unit fails to oper-
ate, or the RPTO turns on for a short
Meet the requirements of subsection 6.3 “Possible
failures in the electronic control system for rear axle dif-
ferential lock, front driving axle drive, rear power take off
shaft and instructions for troubleshooting”. Check pres-
sure at the distributor inlet and outlet.
No oil pressure at the inlet to the
distributor or at the inlet to the PTO
friction clutch
Check pressure at the inlet to distributor with a ma-
nometer; if there is no pressure, eliminate failures in
the transmission hydraulic system. If there is no
pressure at the outlet to the PTO friction clutch, re-
Oil leakage on the seals of the PTO
reduction gear
Rear PTO fails to transmit full torque (PTO is skidding)
Sticking of the distributor valve
Repair or replace the distributor
Low oil pressure in the transmission
hydraulic system
Adjust the operating pressure setting valve of the
transmission hydraulic system or eliminate other fail-
ures of transmission hydraulic system
Low oil pressure in the control sys-
tem due to excessive internal leaks
in the PTO reduction gear
Check pressure applied to PTO friction clutch, if nec-
essary replace seal rings of the piston of the PTO
Friction clutch malfunction due to
sticking of the operatio
nal piston or
wear of friction disks
Contact your dealer. It is required to wash the parts
of friction clutch in pure diesel fuel, replace friction
Friction disks are worn out due to
excess of a permissible torque on
the RPTO shaft end
or due to long
service life
After you have engaged the PTO brake, the shaft keeps rotating
The shaft keeps on rotating
There is a residual oil pressure in the PTO control
system. Replace the distributor
Rear PTO shaft end fracture
Presence of heavy bending load on
the shaft end from the attached ma-
chine drive (extreme angles of pow-
er reception cardan shaft, etc.)
Eliminate the violations of the rules on coupling. Elim-
inate machine defects, replace the shaft end.
Torsion of splines (teeth) of rear PTO shaft end
Presence of impact loads from the
attached machine which are trans-
ferred to the shaft end
Check the availability and workability of safety ele-
ments of the attached machine (torque-limiting
clutch, shear bolt) and eliminate the failure, replace
