5.4.6 Maintenance service every 2000 hours of operation
5.4.6.1 General information
Perform the previous operations, as well as the operations given in this subsection
5.4.6.
5.4.6.2 Operation 55. Washing the engine cooling system and changing the coolant
Before changing the coolant in the engine cooling system, it is necessary to place
the tractor on a flat horizontal area, engage the parking brake and block the wheels from
movement in front and behind with wheel chocks to prevent spontaneous movement of the
tractor. The engine must be off.
WARNING: THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM OPERATES UNDER A PRESSURE
MAINTAINED BY THE VALVE IN THE WATER RADIATOR CAP. IT IS DANGEROUS TO
REMOVE THE RADIATOR OR EXPANSION TANK CAP ON A HOT ENGINE. ALLOW
THE ENGINE TO COOL DOWN, PUT A THICK CLOTH OVER THE CAP AND TURN
SLOWLY TO DECREASE THE PRESSURE SMOOTHLY BEFORE REMOVING THE
CAP COMPLETELY. BEWARE OF BURNING FROM HOT LIQUID!
To wash the tractor engine cooling system and changing the coolant, do the follow-
ing:
- open the heater tap, if it was shut;
- open water radiator cap 6 (figure 5.4.5), unscrew the drain cocks on the water ra-
diator and on the cylinder block on the right, drain the coolant.
- turn on the drain cocks on the water radiator and on the cylinder block;
- shut the heater tap,
- through the filler neck of the radiator, fill the system with the prepared solution (so-
lution for washing the engine cooling system - 500 g of sodium carbonate per 23 liters of
water) to the level of the upper edge of the filler neck;
- fill expansion tank 4 with the prepared solution up to the upper edge of clamp 12
fastening the expansion tank;
- start the engine and run for 5 to 10 minutes at a coolant temperature above 80°C,
then turn off the engine and drain the solution;
- pour clean water into the cooling system through the radiator filler neck, fill the ex-
pansion tank with water up to the upper edge of the clamp, start the engine and let it run
for 5 to 10 minutes at a coolant temperature of at least 80°C, then turn off the engine and
drain the water from the cooling system. If the drained water is dirty, it is necessary to
wash the system until the drained water is clean;
- pour coolant into the cooling system to the level of the upper edge of the radiator
filler neck, fill the expansion tank with coolant to the upper edge of the clamp;
- start the engine, warm it up until the coolant temperature becomes 92 to 95°C,
turn off the engine.
- check the uniformity of heating of the upper and lower radiator tanks, the core of
the radiator. Let the engine cool down;
- check the coolant level by level of filling of the expansion tank. If the coolant level
is lower than 20 ... 30 mm from the bottom of the expansion tank, add coolant to the ex-
pansion tank up to the upper edge of the expansion tank clamp;
- if necessary, open the heater cock and fill the tractor cabin heating system with
coolant.
5.4.6.3 Operation 56. Changing filter cartridges of the cab ventilation and heating
system
Change the cartridges of the filters of the cab ventilation and heating system. The
procedure for removing and installing the filter cartridges on the tractor is given in clause
5.4.2.9 "Operation 18. Cleaning of filter cartridges of cab ventilation and heating system".
