The mode “maintenance interval” allows setting a new interval for maintenance ser-
vice. In this mode, the value of tractor operating time is entered in order to inform the driv-
er of the next maintenance time.
The mode “reference information” displays information on the software version, and
the type and manufacturing enterprise of the instrument panel.
2.6.5 Functioning algorithm of heating plugs and heating plugs annunciator
As a means of start-up facilitation, heating plugs (HP) are used in tractors
BELARUS-82.3”, which are mounted in the cylinder head. A heating plug control unit is
used for individual control of heating plug operation modes, for indication of their opera-
tion.
The operating principle of the HP, controlled by the heating plug controller is the fol-
lowing:
The heating plugs are not activated, if the engine temperature exceeds +30°C. In
this case the heating plug annunciator 4 (Figure 2.6.2) lights up for maximum 2 sec., or
does not light up at all.
If the engine temperature is below +30°C, the heating plugs are activated automati-
cally as the key of starter and instrument switch is turned from position “0” (off) into posi-
tion “I” (Instruments on). In this case the heating plug annunciator 4 lights up on the in-
strument panel. The heating plug operation time depends on engine temperature as per
table 2.6.6. The engine is to be started after the annunciator 4 goes out upon expiration of
the time specified in table 2.6.6. After the engine start-up, the heating plugs remain on for
some time, then they go out. The heating plug operation time after the engine start-up de-
pends on the engine temperature at the moment of the heating plug activation. (See table
2.6.6).
If during (10±1) sec. after the annunciator 4 goes out the engine is not started, the
heating plugs are switched off.
The heating plug algorithm has the following emergency modes:
- when the starter and instrument switch key is turned from position "0" (Off) to posi-
tion "I" (Instruments On), the HP 4 indicator starts blinking continuously with frequency of
≈2 Hz. This means that there is a malfunction in the HP system - all heating plugs are
closed or their connection is broken (disconnected from the HP control unit), there is no
power in the HP control unit or the power supply cable is damaged. And in case of a short
circuit the HP control unit disconnects the power supply (12V) to the heating plugs;
- The HP 4 indicator starts to output the light code according to Table 2.6.7. It
means that one or more heating plugs are out of order, or one (or more than one) power
switch of the HP controller is broken. Refer to Table 2.6.7 and its note for more details
about reading the HP 4 alarm light codes.
If these malfunctions are not eliminated, the engine can be difficult to start at low
temperatures.
- during preheating before starting the engine, the HP 4 indicator blinks with a fre-
quency of ≈1 Hz. This indicates either a short circuit of the HP temperature sensor, or its
malfunction. In this case the time of engine preheating and HP heating after the engine
start-up is set as at engine temperature minus 20°С according to Table 2.6.6, with the
three-seconds delay time of switching on the plugs after switching the starter and instru-
ment switches from position "0" (switched off) to position "I" (the instruments are on).
IT IS FORBIDDEN TO OPERATE THE TRACTOR UNTIL FAILURES OF THE
HEATING PLUG SYSTEM ARE FOUND OUT AND ELIMINATED, AS IT MAY LEAD TO
DISCHARGE OF ACCUMULATOR BATTERIES!
