7 TRACTOR STORAGE
7.1 General instructions
ATTENTION: THE PRESENT SECTION CONTAINS STORAGE REGULATIONS
FOR THE “BELARUS-82.3” TRACTOR CHASSIS SYSTEMS AND UNITS. REGULA-
TIONS ON ENGINE STORAGE, PRESERVATION, REPRESERVATION, AND DEPRE-
SERVATION ARE SPECIFIED IN THE ENGINE OPERATION MANUAL!
The tractors shall be stored in indoor area or under a shed.
If covered premises are not available, tractors may be stored on special outdoor
sites, with obligatory accomplishment of procedures of preservation, sealing and dismount-
ing of components that require warehousing.
Put tractors for the inter-shift storage if their operation is interrupted for up to 10
days, short-term storage if duration of idle interval is from ten days to two months, and
long-term storage if interruption of use lasts for over two months. Put tractors for the inter-
shift and short-term storage immediately after work completion, and for long-term storage
not later than ten days after work completion.
7.2 Requirements for inter-shift tractor storage
The tractor may be stored on inter-shift storage yards and sites, or directly on work
execution sites. Tractor shall be cleaned from dirt and dust. Set control levers and pedals
to a position excluding spontaneous engagement of tractor units and components. Accu-
mulator battery shall be switched off.
7.3 Requirements for short-term tractor storage
Put the tractor for storage in a complete set without dismounting parts and assem-
bly units. Follow the instructions of subsection 7.2 “Requirements for inter-shift storage of
the tractor”. Place the tractor on supporting blocks (plates).
Components where water is not allowed (alternator, relays, etc.) shall be protected
with protecting covers made of paraffined paper or polyethylene film. After cleaning and
washing the tractor, it shall be blown off with compressed air to remove moisture.
Use caps, polyethylene film sacks or other special accessories to close tightly the
fuel tank filling neck, openings of the engine breather, transmission, hydraulic systems, the
engine exhaust pipe, the inlet pipe of the air purifier and other cavities, through which at-
mospheric precipitation may get inside the tractor assembly units.
Open joints, screwed and threaded connections of lift linkage and steering system,
splined surfaces of PTO shaft end and cardan shaft, projecting parts of cylinder and shock
absorber rods, front and rear wheel track adjustment mechanisms shall be preserved.
Disconnect the accumulator battery. Carry out regular maintenance of the accumu-
lator battery in accordance with clause 5.4.3.2 “Operation 22. Maintenance of batteries”.
If tractor is stored at low temperatures or over one month, the accumulator battery
shall be dismounted and sent to a warehouse.
