5.4.3.2 Operation 22. Maintenance of batteries
The operation must be performed every 250 hours of tractor operation, but at least once
every three months.
It is recommended to remove both batteries from the tractor before carrying out mainte-
nance. Before removing the battery from the tractor, it is necessary to disconnect the battery
from the on-board circuit.
On the BELARUS-82.3 tractor, the batteries are installed in a special compartment in the
rear of the cab.
To remove the battery from the compartment, do the following:
- lift the battery compartment cover by unscrewing four M6 bolts;
- remove the wire ends from the battery terminals;
- remove both clamps by unscrewing two M8 nuts that secure the clamps of each bat-

- remove both batteries from the battery compartment.
To perform battery maintenance, do the following:

- check condition of terminals 2 (figure 5.4.20) of the output pins, which are under pro-
tective covers "A" (figure 5.4.20), and ventilation holes in plugs 1 (or the ventilation hole B). If
necessary, lubricate the terminals with petroleum jelly and clean the ventilation holes;
- unscrew plugs 1 of the filler holes of the batteries and check:
1. Electrolyte level - if necessary, add distilled water so that the electrolyte level is
10...15 mm higher than the protective grid, or is at the level of the mark on the battery case.
2. The degree of discharge of the batteries according to the density of the electrolyte - if
necessary, recharge the batteries. Battery discharge is not allowed below 50% in summer and
25% in winter (the batteries must have a charge of at least 75%).
1 plugs of filler holes; 2 output pin terminal.
