5.4.2.12 Operation 21. Check/adjustment of A/C compressor drive belt tension
1. Check of A/C compressor drive belt tension:
Tension of belt 1 (figure 5.4.19) of A/C compressor drive is considered to be nor-
mal if the deflection of its branch of “engine crankshaft pulley – compressor pulley” meas-
ured in the middle is within the range of 4 to 6 mm when you apply a force of 39 to 41 N
at right angle to the middle of the branch.
In case this condition is not observed it is necessary to adjust the A/C compressor
drive belt tension.
2. Adjustment of A/C compressor drive belt tension:
Tension adjustment of belt 1 (figure 5.4.19) shall be carried out by turning com-
pressor 2 on rotational axis А and tightening threaded joint B in the slot of sector C. After
adjustment, belt deflection in response to a force of (39+2.0) N applied at right angle to
the middle of the branch shall be within 4 to 6 mm.
Before adjusting the belt tension, it is recommended to loosen the screw connec-
tion B (M10). After adjustment, tighten the screw connection B with a torque of 40 to 50
Nm.
1 – belt; 2 – compressor.
