8. TRACTOR TRANSPORTATION AND TOWING
8.1 Tractor transportation
Tractors are transported by railroad, motor vehicles or under its own power.
Engage the parking brake and the first gear of the gearbox for tractor transportation.
Fasten BELARUS-82.3 tractors to the rail platform with four sling ropes.
Fasten one sling rope on each side of the tractor to a special nut located on the rear
wheel hub with its one end, and to a binder bracket with another end. Also fasten one sling
rope on each side of the tractor to a special front wheel nut with its one end, and to a bind-
er bracket with another end.
During tractor loading/unloading use lifting mechanisms with a load-carrying capaci-
ty of at least 10 ton-force.
WARNING: WHEN THE TRACTOR IS LIFTED BY THE LIFTING EYE NUTS, IT
MIGHT MOVE TO A DISTANCE OF UP TO 1.5 М IN THE BACKWARD OR FORWARD
DIRECTION!
Tie the steel ropes of the BELARUS-82.3 tractors down to lifting eye nuts of the
front and rear wheel, as shown in the roping diagram in figure 8.1.1
When tying the steel ropes to lifting eye nut 3 (figure 8.1.1) of the front or rear
wheel, place hauling device 2 around the lifting eye nut body and lock it by inserting stop
lock 1 into the eye of the lifting eye nut.
1 – stop lock; 2 – hauling device; 3 – lifting eye-nut.

8.2. Tractor towing
Towing the tractor with the HSC pump faulty is allowed at a speed of not more than
10 km/h for a maximum distance of 5 km. Before starting to tow the tractor do the follow-
ing:
- set the gear shifting lever of the gearbox into “Neutral” position, the range shifting
lever of the gearbox into the position of “range II is on”;
- set the handle for switching the RPTO from continuous to ground-speed to “Neu-
tral” position.
In order to attach a towing device to the tractor with mounted ballast weights there
is a towing shackle located on the ballast weights.
