Tractor maintenance during the storage includes checking if tractors are properly
placed on supporting blocks (plates) (absence of skew), fullness of configuration, air pres-
sure in tires, sealing reliability, state of anticorrosion coatings (protective grease, paint in-
tegrity, absence of corrosion), state of protective devices (integrity and strength of boots
and covers). Detected defects shall be eliminated.
Tractor technical maintenance when removing from storage includes removing
supporting blocks, cleaning and, if required, depreservation of the tractor, its components,
removal of sealing agents, reinstallation of dismounted components, including its engine
according to the engine manual.
7.5 Preservation
Preservation provides for provisional anticorrosion protection of tractor assemblies
and systems from ambient exposure in the process of tractor transportation and storage.
Preservation instructions for the engine and its systems are listed in the engine op-
eration manual.
Clean other (except the engine) tractor surfaces, subject to preservation, from me-
chanical staining, degrease and dry up. Cover unpainted inside and outside galvanized
surfaces, specific assemblies of the tractor and inside the cabin with corrosion-proof oil
RUST BAN 397, SUMIDERA 397.
Apply protective grease according to GOST 4366-76 to the projecting parts of the
hydraulic cylinder rods.
Use boots of polyethylene film for sealing of assemblies (filler necks of the fuel
tanks and the breathers).
The applied materials provide protection of the tractor and its assemblies for the pe-
riod of storage and transportation within one year.
Outside preservation of the tractor and its assemblies is carried out by greasing of
surfaces with a brush and sputtering by means of paint sprayer. Inside tractor preservation
is carried out by filling cavities with preservation mixture and subsequent engine break-in.
During inter-shift, short-term and long-term storage of the tractor, the enterprise op-
erating the tractor shall be liable for ensuring preservation means and methods as well as
storage conditions specified in GOST 7751-2009. Inside tractor surfaces preservation can
also be carried out with preservation grease KS-U according to TU RB 600125053.019-
2004. When the tractor is stored outside, specific surfaces shall be preserved with grease
“BELA-KOR” of type “А” according to TU RB 600125053-020-2004. Upon agreement with
OJSC “MTW” other preservation greases may be used.
7.6 Depreservation and represervation
Depreservation method should be chosen depending on preservation materials
used. Surfaces under preservation have to be wiped with cleaning cloth soaked in low-
viscous oils, solvents, or washed away with washing water-soluble detergents. Insulation
materials (film, paper) should be removed from sealed assembles. Inside surfaces under
preservation need no depreservation.
Tractor represervation shall be carried out in case preservation defects are found in
the process of storage or upon expiration of protection life.
