7.7 Putting the tractor into operation after long-term storage
Carry out depreservation of the engine according to the engine operation manual.
Remove grease from external surfaces under preservation. Dismount protective
polyethylene cases, covers, plugs, special accessories and mount the parts which were
removed earlier back in their places. Before mounting parts remove grease and dust.
Drain sediment out of all vessels, fill them with operation fluids and, if necessary, top up to
check level.
Grease all tractor mechanisms according to clause 3 of Table 5.8.1 of the present
operation manual. Carry out scheduled maintenance. Run the tractor for 15-20 minutes.
Eliminate the faults if any.
7.8 Safety requirements for preservation
The preservation procedure, comprising surface preparation, coating with preserva-
tion materials, paper marking and cutting, packing, shall be carried out only by persons
aged 18 years and older, subjected to medical examination, properly instructed on labor
and fire safety, and having received primary instructions on the working place. Preserva-
tion premises and sections shall be separated from other production premises and
equipped with combined extract-and-input ventilation. Materials used for preservation are
combustible substances with flash temperature from 170 to 270
o
C, and shall comply with
governmental standards, technical specifications and have quality certificate.
The supplied preservation materials shall bear a label with material name. Perform
preservation operations in special clothes and footwear and use individual protection
means. When performing preservation operations, observe personal hygiene rules, have
special clothes dry cleaned in time, don’t wash it in emulsions, solvents, and kerosene. By
the degree of impact on human health, preservation materials are classified as of moder-
ate hazard, so use recommended individual protection means while handling materials.
Prolonged exposure of hand skin to preservation oils, greases and liquids may in-
jure the skin. White spirit vapors in small concentrations act as weak drug, large concen-
tration may result in poisoning. Anticorrosion paper contains corrosion inhibitors causing
irritation and inflammation of skin, mucous of nose and eyes. Before starting work put on
cotton overalls, robe or apron, prepare individual protection means depending on working
conditions and toxicity of substances used. Smear hands with protection paste (cream)
and put on cotton and rubber gloves. Before starting to carry out procedures, safe condi-
tions of which are not known, claim for briefing on safety.
