5.4.2.10 Operation 19. Check of level and condition of oil in the engine air cleaner
pan
Loosen two nuts 1 by a few turns (figure 5.4.17) and remove pan 2 of air cleaner 3.
Check oil level in the pan, which should be at the level of a ring belt "A". Add oil if neces-
sary.
If there is dirt and water in the oil, drain the contaminated oil, flush the pan and fill
with pre-filtered treated engine oil to the level of the ring groove.
Check the system for tightness in accordance with clause 5.4.4.7 "Operation 37. Check of
air-tightness of all connections of air cleaner and intake duct”
1 – nut; 2 – pan; 3 – air cleaner assembly; 4 – starter.

ATTENTION: DO NOT OVERFILL THE PAN WITH OIL ABOVE THE RING BELT
“A”, AS THIS MAY RESULT IN OIL ENTRY INTO THE ENGINE COMBUSTION CHAM-
BERS AND CREATING A FALSE IMPRESSION OF INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION!
ATTENTION: IN THE CONDITIONS OF HIGH DUST IN THE AIR, CHECK THE
LEVEL AND CONDITION OF OIL IN THE ENGINE AIR CLEANER PAN EVERY 20
HOURS OF TRACTOR OPERATION!
ATTENTION: IF THERE IS NO POLLUTION, CHANGE OIL IN THE AIR CLEANER
PAN AT LEAST EVERY 500 HOURS OF TRACTOR OPERATION!
5.4.2.11 Operation 20. Check/adjustment of fan belt tension
A two-beam fan belt is installed on the engine of the BELARUS-82.3 tractor.
The tension of two-beam belt 1 (figure 5.4.18) of the fan is considered normal if its
deflection on the branch of crankshaft pulley 4 - alternator pulley 2 is in the range from 12
to 17 mm, as you press both branches of the two-beam belt with a force of ≈ 40 N.
To adjust the belt tension loosen the alternator. Turn the alternator housing to adjust
the belt tension. Tighten the bar mounting bolt and the alternator mounting bolt nuts.
1 – two-beam belt; 2 – alternator pulley; 3 – fan pulley; 4 – crankshaft pulley.
