Troubleshooting
The engine smokes in all operating modes with blue smoke coming out of
the exhaust pipe
Oil entering the combustion
chamber as a result of wear of pis-
ton rings, pistons, liners
Replace worn piston rings, pistons, liners
Too much oil in the crankcase
Drain excess oil and make the level equal to the
upper mark on the oil dipstick.
The engine gets overheated
Insufficient amount of coolant in
the cooling system
Add coolant to the radiator to reach the correct
level
Radiator is dirty outside
Clean the radiator
Presence of scale in the cooling
system due to the use of water
Clean and flush the cooling system to remove
scale. Fill the system with coolant
Thermostat is not fully opening
Replace thermostat
Insufficient tension of fan belt and
pulleys
Tighten the belt
Oiling of fan drive belt and pulleys
Remove the drive belt, remove traces of oil from
the surface of the belt and pulleys
Oil pressure in warm engine is below the allowable
Engine oil pressure sensor or
gauge are faulty
Replace the pressure sensor or gauge, if neces-
sary, after checking the oil pressure with the con-
trol instrumentation.
Tightness of oil pipeline connec-
tions is broken
Locate the leak and repair it
Engine oil pump is faulty
Troubleshoot and fix
Oil level in the crankcase is below
the permissible level
Add oil to the upper mark on the oil dipstick
Safety valve in oil filter housing is
stuck
Wash the valve and the bushing, adjust the pres-
sure in the lubrication system
Limit wear in the junction of the
“crankshaft journal and main (rod)
bearings
Fix
The engine is running overspeed
Stop the engine immediately by shutting off the fuel or air supply. Remove the fuel
pump from the engine and send it to a specialized workshop to find out the cause and
eliminate the problem.
Oil entering the cooling system, or coolant entering the oil
Remove the liquid-oil heat exchanger and check for leaks. Replace rubber O-rings
