7.4 Spectrometer problems indicated by file parameters in
OPUS
To have the spectrum file parameters displayed in OPUS proceed as follows:
1. Right click the spectrum file in the OPUS browser.
2. Select Show Parameters from the pop-up menu.
The following dialog opens:
3. Select Instrument Parameters and Data Acquisition Status.
Any value unequal to zero indicates an error during data acquisition. Bit coded
value, bit 13 set (= 8192 decimal) means Buffer overflow in the optics controller.
This indicates a severe problem in the data transfer from the DSP of the optics to
OPUS. Data has been lost and the resulting file is corrupt. This can be either due
to an unreliable network connection, or to a too high a data rate. In the latter
case, the scanner velocity should be reduced.
