9 Data Communication
To connect the spectrometer to a PC, on which the OPUS software runs, you have to
perform the following steps:
1. Selecting a connection topology
2. Defining the corresponding network address
3. Assigning the network address
4. Checking the connection
What types of configurations are possible?
• Connecting spectrometer to a stand-alone PC (standard configuration)
• Connecting both spectrometer and PC to a network
• Connecting spectrometer to a network PC
Data cable type
The data cable type depends on the configuration used.
The figure below illustrates the RJ-45 Ethernet cable wiring for a straight-through and
cross-over cable.
