6 Maintenance
The IFS 125M spectrometer is a low-maintenance instrument, i.e. the operator can
replace components with a limited service life without requiring the assistance of the
Bruker service personnel.
The following maintenance procedures are described in this chapter:
Checking laser signal
Replacing source
Replacing window
Evacuating detector
Checking drive cable
Transporting spectrometer
Cleaning housing
6.1 General maintenance considerations
Perform only the maintenance procedures described in this chapter. Strictly observe the
relevant safety precautions. Any failure to do so may cause property damage or per
-
sonal injury. In this particular case Bruker does not assume any liability.
Maintenance procedures not described in this manual should only be performed by a
Bruker service engineer.
The following precautions must be observed to ensure user and property safety:
Disconnect power supply before performing any maintenance procedures.
Be careful if the spectrometer covers are removed and the spectrometer is
switched on to avoid contact with potentially harmful voltages.
CAUTION
Spectrometer still connected to power supply and covers removed:
Laser and source radiation could be emitted and cause health hazards and property
damage.
Always disconnect spectrometer from power supply before starting any mainte-
nance work.
