Paper Jams in Top Left Cover A
The following describes how to clear paper jams in the top left cover.
Important • Images might be shifted on a black film like transfer belt that is inside the top left cover of the
machine when the machine stops for a paper jam. When you remove the jammed paper, do
not touch the belt, or the image quality might be deteriorated or the belt might be damaged
and required to be replaced.
• When you open the top left cover by reasons other than a paper jam, perform either one of
the followings.
• If the machine is in the Sleep mode, exit the Sleep mode and turn the power off.
• If the machine is in a mode other than the Sleep mode, turn the power off.

Open Tray 5 (Bypass) (1). While lifting up
the release lever (2), gently open the top left
cover (3).
îš„When Side Tray (optional) is attached
Remove paper from the Side Tray first, then
open the top left cover.

If paper is jammed at the exit to the output
tray, remove the paper by pulling it out
straightly.
Note • Toner may adhere on the transfer roller,
but it does not affect image quality.

Remove the jammed paper.
Note • If the paper is torn, check for any torn
pieces inside the machine.
