Pressing the

(RUN/ PAUSE) key
when the unit is in STOP mode
continues the previous run.
The 7 key ends a run. Pressing the key a second time
stores the data in a file. This key is only active on a Data
View screen.
Tab and Setting Displays
The 831 features and functions are organized into four
different types of displays.
• Data Display tabs: used to display measured data.
• Measurement Settings tabs: used to set the parameters
for a measurement.
• Control Panel (Tools) Properties: used to set user
preferences, to set non-measurement related parameters,
and to implement calibration.
• Power Control Page: used to check battery power,
control the contrast and backlight of the display and
other features.
Data Display Tabs
When the
0 (ON/OFF) key is pressed to turn on the 831,
the Data Display tabs appear.
Measurement Settings Tabs
Opening
From the Data Display tabs, pressing the Center Softkey
labeled Menu brings up the menu shown in FIGURE 3-9.

Select Settings and press
5 to open the Settings tabs.
Closing
Press the Center Softkey to return the Data Display tabs.
Control Panel (Tools) Properties
The Control Panel is accessed by pressing the
