3. Remove the three screws securing the solenoid to the starter. Remove the solenoid from the starter.

Pinion Gear Removal
1. Remove and discard the snap ring securing the pinion gear to the starter shaft.
2. Remove the pinion gear from the starter shaft.
NOTE: The removal of the pinion gear may require the use of a small gear puller.

Starter Assembly (Solenoid Driven Bendix)
Pinion Gear Installation
1. Verify the starter shaft splines are clear of debris. Use a razor blade to clear debris from the root area of the starter shaft
splines.
