3. Place the outboard in water or connect a flushing attachment for circulating cooling water. Run the engine at 2000 RPM for
25 minutes to allow the treated fuel to fill the fuel system.
Protecting Internal Engine Components
NOTE: Make sure the fuel system has been prepared for storage.
1. Remove the spark plugs and using Oil Syringe 803976T, add approximately 30 ml (1 oz) of 2‑cycle TC‑W3 engine oil into
each spark plug hole. Rotate the flywheel manually several times to distribute the oil in the cylinders. Install the spark plugs.
2. Remove the water separating fuel filter and empty the contents into a suitable container. Replace the fuel filter annually, or
every 100 hours of operation, or if a large amount of fuel contamination is present.
Protecting Jet Pump Components
IMPORTANT: Check and fill the drive housing and stator assembly with High Performance Gear Lubricant before storage to protect
against possible water leakage into the housings. Inspect the seals on the drive housing fill and drain plugs. Apply Loctite 567
Pipe Sealant to the threads of the stator drain and fill plugs. Tighten all plugs securely.
• Drain and fill the drive housing and stator assembly with High Performance Gear Lubricant. Refer to Drive Housing
Lubricant and Stator Assembly Lubricant.
• Lubricate all lubrication points.
• Touch‑up any paint nicks. See your dealer for touch‑up paint.

Positioning Outboard for Storage
Store outboard in an upright (vertical) position to allow water to drain out of the outboard.
NOTICE
Storing the outboard in a tilted position can damage the outboard. Water trapped in the cooling passages or rain water collected
in the propeller exhaust outlet in the gearcase can freeze. Store the outboard in the full down position.
Battery Storage
• Follow the battery manufacturer's instructions for storage and recharging.
• Remove the battery from the boat and check water level. Recharge if necessary.
• Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
• Periodically check the water level and recharge the battery during storage.
