FRONT GEARCASE DISASSEMBLY /
INSPECTION
1. Drain and properly dispose of gearcase fluid.
Remove any metal particles from the drain plug
magnet.
2. Remove the nine cover screws and remove the cover
plate assembly.
3. Remove the LH output hub assembly from the clutch
housing or outer cover plate assembly.
4. Remove and inspect the armature plate

and cage
plate

. Refer to AWD Diagnosis for detailed
inspection process.
5. Remove the spring retainer

and compression
springs
u
from the top of the ring gear.
6. Remove the clutch housing / ring gear, roll cage and
plastic spacer assembly
i
from the gearcase
housing.
