13DIODE FOR ALTERNATOR
Description
This diode is as same as “9 DIODE OF HST CIRCUIT except installed position.
It is installed near alternator on the wiring harness.
14 ENGINE COOLANT
TEMPERATURE
SENDING UNIT (385720011)
Description
The engine coolant temperature sending unit,
1, is located on the left side of the
thermostat housing.
The sending unit regulates a variable
resistance to ground, which translates to
movement of the temperature gauge on the
instrument panel. The sending unit decreases
ground resistance as coolant temperature
rises, causing the temperature gauge to rise.
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable
from the battery.
2. Drain the engine coolant from the
radiator.
3. Disconnect the main wiring harness
terminal, 2, from the coolant
temperature sending unit, 1.
4. Remove the sending unit, 1, from the
engine.
Test i ng
WA R N I N G :
Do not perform sending unit test with tractor
engine running, contact with moving parts
will cause bodily injury.
NOTE:
Engine paint must be removed from sending
unit body or the ohmmeter will indicate a
false reading when the ohmmeter test lead
is touched to sending unit body.
The resistance rating is measured on the
special circuit for correctly.
1. Using an ohmmeter, touch one test lead
to the sending unit terminal. Touch the
other test lead to the sending unit body.
2. Observe the ohmmeter for resistance
readings at different engine operating
temperatures. If resistance is too high,
the sending unit is defective and needs
replaced.
