17） INSTRUMENT PANEL－COMPONENT OPERATION AND SERVICING
Description
The indicator and instrument light bulbs are
the only serviceable components of the
instrument panel.
If any other part of the instrument panel is
found to be defective, the instrument panel
must be replaced as a unit.

1. Proof Meter - The proof meter indicates
hours of operation for the tractor engine.
Units are expressed on the meter to tenths
of an hour (6 minutes). The proof meter
is used as a guide to determine hours of
service and maintenance intervals.
NOTE: The proof meter is not serviceable
and the instrument panel must be replaced if
the meter is defective.
2. Temperature Gauge - The temperature
gauge indicates engine coolant
temperature.
The temperature gauge is activated when
the key switch is turned to the
"ON/HEAT/START" position, as battery
current is being supplied to the gauge.
Normal engine operating temperature is
indicated as the white region of the gauge.
The red portion of the gauge indicates an
engine overheating condition. This is to
alert the operator to stop the tractor
engine and investigate a possible engine
malfunction, should the gauge needle
enter the red portion.
3. Fuel Gauge - The fuel gauge indicates
the amount of diesel fuel in the tractor
fuel tank. The fuel gauge is activated.
when the key switch is turned to the
"ON/HEAT/START" position, as battery
current is being supplied to the gauge.
The mark “
” of the gauge indicates a
full tank of fuel and the mark “
” of the
gauge indicates an empty fuel tank
.
The fuel gauge needle will move to
as the tractor engine consumes fuel.
4. Glow Plug Indicator Light -
The glow
plug indicator light will illuminate
when the key switch is in the "HEAT"
and "START" positions, indicating the
engine glow plugs are energized and
heating the tractor engine combustion
chambers. The indicator light will stay
illuminated for four (4) seconds when
the key switch is in the "HEAT"
position and remains illuminated when
the key switch is turned to the "START"
position.
