26) BRAKE light RELAY
(No.385230250)
The brake light relay is installed on the
bottom of steering column in the dashboard,
and it is connected with white connector of
main wire harness.
The relay is automatically complete (close) a
circuit.
The brake tight is a single-pole, single-throw
switch (SPST) that contains three circuits.
One circuit is the control circuit, which
controls the relay's coil. The other two are
function circuits. The brake light relay
switches from one function circuit to another
when the coil is energized. One function
circuit is always closed, which depends on if
the relay's coil is energized. The brake light
relay does not utilize an internal diode. The
master brake switch when closed, will
energize the brake light relay coil, which
completes brake lamp circuit. This allows
the brake lamps illuminate.
When the coil is not energized, the relay
completes the circuit for brake lamps.
If the operator depresses the master brake
pedal the relay's coil will energize, which
also close brake lamps circuit.
Brake light Relay Test
1. Disconnect the connector and remove
the brake relay from the tractor.
2. Using an ohmmeter, connect test probes
to terminals "C" and "D" on the relay.
Observe the ohmmeter reading. Repeat
for terminals "D" and "E".
3. There should be high resistance between
terminals "C" and "D" and terminals
"D" and "E", indicating no continuity
and that the relay is functioning
properly when non-energized. If there is
continuity, the relay is defective and
needs replaced.
