Chapter 1 CompactLogix 5480 System
• If the SA power source uses DC voltage, the total continuous current
draw across the SA power bus must not be more than 10 A, max at
18…32V DC.
• If the SA power source uses AC voltage, the total continuous current
draw across the SA power bus must not be more than 10 A, max at
18…240V AC.
• We recommend that you use an external power supply that is adequately
sized for the total SA power bus current draw on the bus to which the
supply provides power.
You must consider current inrush requirements when you calculate the
total SA power bus current draw in the system.
If a system contains multiple SA power buses, make sure that the
external power supply that is used for each SA power bus is
adequately-sized.
IMPORTANT If your system includes AC and DC modules that require SA power,
you must use a 5069-FPD field potential distributor to establish a
new SA power bus.
You install one set of module types, for example, DC modules, on
the first SA power bus. Then, you install the other set, for example,
AC modules on the second SA power bus. That is, the SA power bus
to the right of the 5069-FPD field potential distributor.
The SA power source limitations described previously apply to each
isolated SA power bus separately.
