Chapter 2 Connect to the Controller
Out-of-box State
The following conditions apply when the CompactLogix 5480 controller is in
the out-of-box state:
EtherNet/IP™ mode is Dual-IP mode.
For more information on the EtherNet/IP mode options, see Chapter 6,
Connect to Different EtherNet/IP Network Levels on page 127.
Ethernet ports are DHCP-enabled but do not have unique IP addresses
assigned to them.
If the controller is connected to a DHCP server at power-up, IP
addresses are assigned automatically. If the controller is not connected to
a DHCP server at power-up, you must assign unique IP addresses to the
ports.
To assign IP addresses, complete the steps that are described in
Set the
Controller IP Address on page 53.
Uses firmware revision 1.xxx.
You must update the firmware revision before you can use it in a Logix
Designer application project and before you can use the COS.
For more information on how update controller the firmware revision,
see
page 69.
Does not contain a controller project.
For more information on how to create a project, see
page 79.
A licensed COS is pre-installed on the controller and ready for initial
set-up. However, as noted above, you cannot start the COS until a
working controller firmware revision is installed on the controller.
