12 - Locking Plate
❑ Allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.
13 - Bolt
❑ 50 Nm + 90°
❑ Always replace if removed.
7.6 Drive Axle, Bolted Inner Joint, Servicing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Circlip Pliers - VW161A-
♦ Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm - VAG1331-
♦ Clamping Pliers - VAG1682A-
Inner CV joint, Removing and Installing
Removing
– Remove both clamps from CV boot.
– Pull off CV boot from inner joint.
– Drive off inner joint cover.
Remove circlip using Circlip Pliers - VW161A- .
– Pull inner joint off drive axle by hand.
Installing
– Install new circlip on drive axle using Circlip Pliers - VW161A- .
– Place new cover on inner joint.
Large and small clamps, tensioning on inner or outer joint, refer
to
⇒ “7.10 Small and Large Clamps, Tightening on Inner or Outer
Joint”, page 195 .
7.7 Inner CV Joint, Bolted Inner Joint,
Checking
It is necessary to disassemble the joint whenever replacing the
grease or if the ball surfaces show wear or damage.
