tolerance. If compensation for wheel run-out is not performed,
it will not be possible to obtain a correct toe-in adjustment.
5.6 Measure Preparations
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Brake Pedal Actuator - VAG1869/2-
-Vehicle Diagnostic Tester- with corresponding diagnostic ca‐
ble.
Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm - VAG1332-
Wrench - Elbow Wrench - 21mm - T10188-
Steering Wheel Scales - VAS6458-
Wheel alignment computer released by VW/Audi
The measurement sensor must be properly adjusted and attach‐
ed to the vehicle; observe device manufacturer's operating in‐
structions.
Make sure that the sliding plates and turn tables are not touching
the end stop when checking the wheel alignment.
Drive the vehicle onto the alignment rack without tension. Move
the vehicle back and forth if necessary to relieve any tension on
the axle components.
The steering wheel must be “evened out” into the center position
before beginning the measuring and adjusting. Use Steering
Wheel Scales - VAS6458- for this.
5.7 Vehicle Alignment Procedure Overview
Note
Vehicle must only be measured at curb weight, refer to
⇒ “5.5 Vehicle Alignment Test Requirements”, page 250 !
Check which suspension is installed in the vehicle. This infor‐
mation can be found on the vehicle data plate ⇒ page 248
Observe the following work sequence!
1 - Drive the vehicle onto the alignment rack without tension.
Move the vehicle back and forth if necessary to relieve any ten‐
sion on the axle components.
2 - The steering wheel must be “evened out” into the center po‐
sition before beginning the measuring and adjusting. Use Steer‐
ing Wheel Scales - VAS6458- for this.
3 - If necessary, check steering rack center position

4 - On vehicles with air suspension, check axle alignment control
position ⇒ page 252 .
5 - Perform wheel run-out compensation, refer to
⇒ “5.10 Wheel Run-Out Compensation”, page 253 .
6 - Check front axle caster, adjust if necessary, refer to
⇒ “5.11 Front Axle Caster, Adjusting”, page 254 .
7 - Check front axle camber and adjust if necessary, refer to
⇒ “5.12 Front Axle Camber, Adjusting”, page 254 .
8 - Check front axle toe and adjust if necessary, refer to
⇒ “5.13 Front Axle Toe, Adjusting”, page 254 .
