– Position mounting bracket and secure air spring with screws
-A arrows-. Counter-hold at mounting bracket when doing so
to prevent boot from rotating.
Point -arrow B- must point in direction of residual pressure re‐
taining valve.
– Fill suspension strut (air suspension), refer to
⇒ “4.3 Air Suspension Strut, Filling”, page 65 .
– Align air spring again so that residual pressure retaining valve
-1- is located exactly on imaginary symmetrical axis -arrow- on
suspension strut (air suspension).
– Residual pressure retaining valve -1- points in opposite direc‐
tion of Dampening Adjustment Valve -2-.
– Submerge suspension strut (air suspension) completely in a
water bath to check for leaks.
If there are no bubbles in the water, suspension strut (air sus‐
pension) does not leak and can be reinstalled in the vehicle.
If bubbles form in water from suspension strut (air suspension), it
must be disassembled again and gaskets must be replaced.
Note
Before installing suspension strut (air suspension), blow out all
connectors and residual pressure retaining valve with com‐
pressed air to dry them.

Note
♦
Residual pressure retaining valve must only be replaced if it
was damaged during Removing and Installing or servicing of
suspension strut (air suspension) or if air is not released from
it anymore (it sticks).

With suspension strut (air suspension) removed, no further
preparation is needed to replace residual pressure retaining
valve, refer to ⇒ page 77 .
