– Raise wheel bearing housing using Engine/Gearbox Jack -
VAG1383A- until dimension -a- is reached.
WARNING
♦ Do not lift or lower vehicle with the engine/transmission
jack still under the vehicle.
♦ Do not leave Engine/Gearbox Jack - VAG1383A- below
vehicle any longer than necessary.
– Tighten the bolts and nuts.
– Lower the wheel bearing housing.
– Move engine and transmission jack away from under vehicle.
– Remove Engine/Gearbox Jack Adapter - Wheel Hub Support
- T10149- .

♦ Engine/Gearbox Jack - VAG1383A-
♦ Torque Wrench 1783 - 2-10Nm - VAG1783-
♦ Engine/Gearbox Jack Adapter - Wheel Hub Support - T10149-
♦ Air Line Insert Tool - T10212-
Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent.
Before axle components with bonded rubber bushings are tight‐
ened, they have to be brought to a position which matches the
position when the vehicle is being operated (control position).
Otherwise the rubber mounting will be stressed, resulting in a re‐
duced service life.
This position can be simulated on the lifting platform by raising
the wheel bearing housing using Engine/Gearbox Jack -
VAG1383A- and Engine/Gearbox Jack Adapter - Wheel Hub
Support - T10149- .
Requirement:
• Engine must be installed.
– Place vehicle on hoist, refer to
⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
– Perform system vent using -Vehicle Diagnostic Tester- , refer
to ⇒ “3.9 System, Venting or Filling”, page 221 .
– Clean air connection area.
