♦ Clamping Pliers - VAG1682A-
Perform the Following:
– Remove drive axle, refer to
⇒ “7.4 Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint, Removing and Instal‐
ling”, page 185 .
Disassembling
Drive off the Outer and Inner CV Joint
– Secure the drive axle with protective covers in a vise clamp.
– Remove the clamps.
– Fold back the protective joint boot.
– Drive CV joint from drive axle using a drift -A-.
The drift must be placed precisely on star of CV joint.
Drive on the Outer and Inner CV Joint
– Install the new circlips.
– Slide new CV boot onto drive axle if necessary.
– Coat the splines on the drive axle with Assembly Paste .
– Press half of the total amount of grease from the repair kit into
the joint body.
– Install the joint body on the shaft using a plastic hammer until
the locking ring locks into place.
– Distribute the remaining grease from the repair kit into the joint
boot.
– Install the CV boot.
– Large and small clamps, tensioning on inner or outer joint ,
refer to
⇒ “7.10 Small and Large Clamps, Tightening on Inner or Outer
Joint”, page 195 .
