♦ Ball Joint Removal Tool - T10444-
♦ Wrench - Elbow Wrench - 21mm - T10188-
♦ Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm - VAG1332-
Removing
Affects Vehicles with Air Suspension
– Place vehicle on hoist, refer to
⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
– Perform system vent using -Vehicle Diagnostic Tester- , refer
to ⇒ “3.9 System, Venting or Filling”, page 221 .
Affects all Vehicles
– Loosening outer drive axle threaded connection, refer to
⇒ “6.2 Drive Axle Outer Joint Twelve Point Nut, Loosening and
Tightening”, page 100 .
– Remove the wheel.
– Wheel housing liner, removing, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 66
– Hook the Tensioner Hooks (2 pc.) - VW552- in the upper
opening of the wheel housing -arrow A- and on the upper con‐
trol arm -arrow B-.
– Lightly pre-tension control arm to prevent damage to ball stud
caused by ball joint.
– Unscrew the bolt -1- for the shock absorber -2- on the control
arm.
