– Loosen the but from the lower control arm and remove the ball
stud using the Ball Joint Removal Tool - T10444- -1-.
– Remove nut.
– Lower the lower control arm in the -direction of the arrow- and
thread out of the wheel bearing housing.
• To make sure that the outer CV joint protective boot does not
become damaged, it may be necessary to push the drive axle
CV joint out of the wheel hub and inward a little bit.
Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the
following:
Tightening specifications, refer to
⇒ “5.1 Lower Control Arm, Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Hub
and Wheel Bearing Overview”, page 81 .

Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent.
Only tighten suspension screws when vehicle is in curb weight
or control position.

Wheel bearing, lifting to curb weight position on vehicles with
coil springs, refer to

For vehicles with air spring suspension, lift wheel suspension
in control position, refer to

Checking and aligning front/rear axle must take place on a VW/
Audi recommended alignment stand.
