4.2 Air Suspension Strut, Removing and In‐
stalling
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Tensioner Hooks (2 pc.) - VW552-
♦ Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm - VAG1332-
♦ Engine/Gearbox Jack - VAG1383A-
♦ Bits for Bits for VAG1331/13 - 12mm - T10099- or Bits for Bits
for VAG1331/13 - 14mm - T10099/1-
♦ Engine/Gearbox Jack Adapter - Wheel Hub Support - T10149-
♦ Puller - Ball Joint - T10187-
Removing
Note
♦ Suspension strut (air suspension) is removed together with
mounting bracket and upper control arm.
♦ During assembly work, ensure no pressure points are created
on suspension strut (air suspension) boot.
– Place vehicle on hoist, refer to
⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
– Perform system vent using -Vehicle Diagnostic Tester- , refer
to ⇒ “3.9 System, Venting or Filling”, page 221 .
– Remove the wiper arms, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 92 .
– Remove the cowl panel trim, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 50 .
– Remove the wheel, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 44 .
