Remove bolts -arrows- for subframe.
Lower scissor raise table slightly and remove breather line
from final drive breather tube.
Slowly lower subframe.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Adjust parking brake, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 46 .
On vehicles with air suspension, position vehicle on wheels,
refer to
⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
Tighten the wheels, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 44 .
An axle alignment may be required. Refer to
⇒ “5.2 When Vehicle Alignment is Necessary”, page 247 .
On vehicles with automatic headlamp range control system,
perform a basic setting on the headlamps, refer to Rep. Gr.
94 .
2.3 Subframe, Securing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm - VAG1331-
Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm - VAG1332-
Scissor Lift Table - VAS6131-
Assembly Carrier Locating Pins - T10300-
Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set - VAS6131/13- without illustration
Certain steps require removal of subframe or entire rear axle. For
installation, the original position of the subframe can be retained
by using Assembly Carrier Locating Pins - T10300- . Always in‐
stall locating pins just prior to lowering subframe or complete rear
axle. A road test must be performed after completing repairs.
An axle alignment may be required. Refer to
⇒ “5 Wheel Alignment”, page 247 .
Remove screws -arrows-.
