❑ If the air supply unit is being replaced, then the Level Control System Compressor Relay - J403- must
also be replaced. Component location: Refer to Wiring Diagrams.
Solenoid Valve Block, Line Arrangement
Air pipes are color-coded:
1 - Black, internal air line between solenoid valve block and
compressor.
2 - Green, air line toward right front air spring shock absorber.
3 - Red, air line toward left rear air spring shock absorber.
4 - Violet, air line to left front air spring damper.
5 - Blue, air line toward pressure reservoirs.
6 - Yellow, air line toward right rear air spring shock absorber.
4.2 Air Line, Servicing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Air Hose Pliers - VAS 6228-
♦ Torque Wrench 1783 - 2-10Nm - VAG1783-
♦ Standard socket open end 12 mm
Defective air lines do not have to be completely replaced. Partial
replacement of the air line is possible using a connector.
Allocation air pipe line/connector, refer to the Parts Catalog.
If the connection leaks, air line can be shortened by 10 mm and
a new connecting piece installed, refer to
⇒ “4.3 Connecting Piece, Replacing”, page 224 .
