12. If needed, limit the height of RLL lifting to the uppermost position when lifting the
machines. It is essential for decreasing the pitch angle, for avoiding of possibility of contact
and damage of the cardan shaft, and for providing safety clearance between the tractor
and the machine.
13. Maximum permissible pitch and steering angles (figure 4.9.5) of the cardan
shaft joints are shown in table 4.9.1.

_________________________________
1)
Other variations are possible (see the cardan shaft and the machine manufacturers’
documentation).
2)
In the short run, for the PTO shaft operated with no load.
3)
For the machine transport position when the PTO shaft is disabled.
14. When operating with mounted and semi-mounted machines equipped with a
cardan drive, you should lock the lower links of the lift linkage.
15. After the cardan shaft has been dismounted, it is necessary to put guard hoods
on the PTO and the PRS ends.
16. After the PTO has been disabled, you should pay attention to the hazard of
coasting of the cardan shaft and individual mechanisms of the coupled coupled. Therefore
it is only allowed to enter the dangerous area between the tractor and the machine after
the PTO shaft is completely despinned.
17. Check for operation of the machine with the cardan shaft attached to the PTO
and the PRS at the minimum and maximum rpm of the tractor engine crankshaft.
18. It is recommended that you disconnect the cardan shaft from the tractor and
from the machine when transporting of the tractor with the trailed, semi-trailed and semi-
mounted machines for considerable distances, including from one field to another.
19. Maintenance, cleaning and repair services of the machine with the cardan drive
attached to the tractor shall be carried out only when the PTO shaft and the tractor engine
are disabled.
