3 Getting Started via the
HART
®
Communicator
Before taking the device into operation, make sure that
the device is not damaged
the device has been installed according to instructions
the connections have been established according to instructions
the cables and lines have been inserted properly
unused cable bushings have been sealed by dummy plugs
according to the directive 94/9/EG
the cover is tightened firmly
the dummy plugs and the screwed cable glands or the conduits
are firmly tightened.
The Level Gauge can be taken into operation either via the HART
®
Communicator or via a PC and the SIMATIC PDM software.
Basically, the procedure for getting started is nearly identical for
both versions. The difference is only in the interface through which
the Level Gauge communicates.
This chapter describes how to take the Level Gauge into operation
via the HART
®
Communicator.
