4 Calibration with SIMATIC PDM Volume 6
4.5 Multi-Point Calibration
Multi-point calibration consists of at least 3 to max. 10 calibration
points. The points are connected by a straight line. This type of cal-
ibration can be performed for every continuous level measurement.
For multi-point calibration various levels have to be controlled.
Figure 4-2 Multi-Point Calibration
Multi-point calibration is carried out in four steps:
• Select operating mode multi-point calibration
• Measure background
• Record calibration points
• Check calibration
The necessary steps will be explained in detail on the following
pages and in the proper order. For more information on the individ-
ual functions please refer to chapter 6.4.
If it should become necessary later, e.g. because a source has been
replaced, to perform a new adjustment, then it will suffice to
re-adjust the characteristic curve using one or two calibration
point(s).
Typically, this is done with empty and/or full calibration.
The following functions are used:
• Adjustment of the lower calibration point (see page 6–610)
• Adjustment of the upper calibration point (see page 6–612)
However, these functions are not used for the following multi-point
calibration and will therefore not be described.
Select the operating mode for multi-point calibration
(see page 6–606).
4.5.1 Measure Background
Proceed as described on page 6–609.
